Warning: Risk of load shedding today

Eskom says some of its generators have tripped, and customers could expect to have load shedding sometime today.

MBOMBELA – Eskom announced this morning that the risk of load shedding will be high until 22:00 this evening.

The power utility says it is experiencing a shortage of generation capacity as some of its generating units tripped last night and this morning.

With the exception of two hours and 20 minutes, the country has not had load shedding for 61 days.

“As we are currently experiencing hot weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping cool,” the parastatal said in a statement.

  • Consider these suggestions to save power:

Close out direct sunlight in rooms with curtains and blinds

Close windows while the aid-conditioning is running

Don’t cool empty spaces

Switch off units 30 minutes before leaving the office
