Positivity is key when approaching business
"Millionaires have a momentum, wherever they go, they attract business. If you network in desperation, you will never attract potential clients.”
MBOMBELA – Renowned international speaker, Mr David Wilkinson, presented a seminar on the importance of business networking at Emnotweni Arena on Tuesday.
Wilkinson himself has personally launched 22 multinational companies, with up to R300 million generated revenue. According to him, seminars also help entrepreneurs think differently and have a positive approach in business.
“Millionaires have a momentum, wherever they go, they attract business. If you network in desperation, you will never attract potential clients,” said Wilkinson. He also mentioned that millionaire business people partner with other entrepreneurs whom they believe have a different set of skills
to benefit them.
His company, the Global Equipping Centre, offers motivational speaking, seminars, strategic-planning sessions, business consulting and executive coaching.
He also advised potential entrepreneurs to attend business expos, business breakfasts and golf outings to grow their business networks. This, he said, also assists in the marketing of products, services and concepts.
“Networking sessions are very important because they offer an opportunity to learn new insights and meet dynamic people,” he said. He also touched on how company executives can grow their companies. “If you want to grow your business, you must outsource the skills that you don’t have. Do not feel threatened by this,” said Wilkinson.
Mr Sammy Letsoalo, a home-loan specialist from Nedbank, said networking played a vital role in growing one’s client growth.
“More than anything, networking is about growing your footprints as a business person, it creates an opportunity to come out and meet potential clients,” he said.
Mr Dion van Staten, an independent vehicles salesman, said the seminar taught him to think positively when approaching potential clients.
