MBOMBELA – Mpumalanga’s premier Mr David Mabuza remains on sick leave.
Acting premier Mr Vusi Shongwe was again sworn in as acting premier on Friday, he confirmed to Lowvelder today.
He was first sworn in on September 9, after Mabuza was booked off sick due to “fatigue” a day earlier.
In the meantime the provincial government and ANC have been sketchy about the details of his illness and treatment.
The party’s provincial elective conference, where Mabuza was expected to stand for a third term as provincial chairman and which was supposed to take place in October, also did not occur.
Shongwe says he will remain in his acting position until November 13.
The Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) also confirmed today that their planned handover of a R66 million fleet for the province’s traditional leaders, which had been postponed on Friday, will take place on November 13.
Spokesman for the department, Mr George Mthethwa, could not confirm whether Mabuza was expected to hand over the vehicles.
