DRIEKOP – A Coca cola company truck loaded with refreshments was torched and looted by the residents of Ga Maroga around 12:00 today. According to the bus driver, who did not want his name to be published.
He was cornered by a group of community members who barricaded the road with stones. “They threw the truck with stones, that left me with no choice but to stop.
The driver said within 10 minutes after stopping the truck, it was emptied.”They came with wheelbarrows and took all the drinks,”he said. The truck was from Polokwane heading to Burgersfort.
Some of the community members said by blockading and torching trucks. They supported the underground mine workers at Dilokong’s ASA metals who are on strike. The miners abandoned their work on October 23. They demanded that the mine’s employee relations manager and the human resource manager be fired. They also wanted the National union of mine workers (Num)’s leaders that were suspended by the mine for misconduct to be reinstated.The road was cleared by fire fighters and the police.
