Kids slide and spray for cancer

All the money raised was contributed to the organisation's continued fight against the disease.

MBOMBELA – Cancer awareness was raised across the city this weekend, and RJ’s Famous Rib Steakhouse was no exception.

On Saturday, October 31, this restaurant held a CANSA fun day where among others, volunteers of CANSA shaved and sprayed people’s hair and painted their faces. All the money raised was contributed to the organisation’s continued fight against the disease.

Lorence Swartz of RJ’s said he lost his aunt to cancer last year.
So he has learnt to appreciate the people in his life and believe that they should be appreciated. “People must rally behind CANSA and support the fight to contain cancer,” Swartz said.

Pauline Moller from CANSA said the most important message that needed to be conveyed was that the prevention of cancer and early detection of the disease were possible.

She also said the event was not necessarily about the money but raising awareness because that will help combat cancer.
