Church festival provides fun for young and old

"Compared to the 2014 event we raised more funds on Friday than we did last year. The bazaar started slowly on Saturday but was well attended later in the day," said minister Fred Wilson.

LYDENBURG – It was all fun and games during the NG Kerk Lydenburg South’s annual Oesfees this past weekend. The programme had various activities lined up with entertainment and food galore.

The Oesfees started on Friday, when children could participate in a cake-decorating competition while adults watched a show by comedian, Ian Wessels while enjoying a braai.

On Saturday morning the stalls opened and the public and church members came out in large numbers to shop. Sunday after the service the weekend was concluded with a free thanksgiving meal.

“Compared to the 2014 event we raised more funds on Friday than we did last year. The bazaar started slowly on Saturday but was well attended later in the day,” said minister Fred Wilson.

“We are grateful for the public’s support.” There is still meat left from the weekend and if you would like to buy some, contact the church office on 013-235-3329.
