Huge medal tally for swimmers

The Mpumalanga Top Schools’ Gala saw top swimmers from all over the province meet to compete.

Riverview Preparatory entered 14 swimmers and walked away with an impressive tally of 14 medals.

This placed them sixth out of 17 schools in the junior primary section and ninth out of 22 schools in the senior primary section.

The following were some notable achievements:

• Julian Schmuck, boys u/7: won a gold medal in the 25-metres freestyle, gold in 25-metres backstroke, bronze in 25-metres breaststroke, bronze in 25-metres butterfly and silver in u/9 4×25-metres freestyle.

• Gregor Thomson, boys u/8: bronze medal 25-metres butterfly.

• Lilly Schmuck, girls u/9: silver medal 25-metres freestyle, silver medal

u/9 4×25-metres freestyle.

• Olivia Ralfe, girls u/9: silver medal

u/9 4×25-metres freestyle.

• Luke Spear, boys u/9: silver medal 25-metres freestyle, bronze medal 25-metres backstroke, silver medal u/9 4×25-metres freestyle.

• Georgina Butcher, girls u/11: bronze medal 50-metres freestyle, gold medal 50-metres breaststroke, setting a new record.
