Three injured when security cars collide

Two drivers were seriously injured and were taken to Tonga and Nelspruit Mediclinic and a case of reckless and negligent driving was opened and is still under investigation.

KOMATIPOORT – The Jaws of Life had to be used to free the driver of a security vehicle who was trapped when two security cars collided.

The accident happened on Thursday afternoon in the town, injuring three people.

According to Komatipoort police spokesman, Const Natacia Mbuyane, the driver of the vehicle was speeding.

“The J&M vehicle was travelling at high speed to catch another one of ours which was transporting cash,” said Mbuyane.

It is alleged that the driver had lost control at the corner of Rissik Street and the N4 while the Securicon vehicle was approaching it.

“The J&M vehicle hit the one of Securicon on the driver’s door. The latter was on its way to Komatipoort and both lost control,” Mbuyane added.

The two drivers were seriously injured and were taken to Tonga and Nelspruit Mediclinic. A case of reckless and negligent driving was opened and is still under investigation.

At the time of going to print the condition of the injured had not yet been established.
