Meeting aims to address problems affecting teaching and learning
To address matters affecting learning and teaching at Driekoppies Combined School, a general meeting was conducted.
DRIEKOPPIES – An annual meeting was held by the school governing body (SGB) after the conclusion of matric exams. The aim was to present a report to parents of the school on its yearly performance.
During the meeting key aspects of discussion were internal results, the financial budget report, subject streaming, registration and collecting of stationery for 2016. The chairman of the SGB, Dr Mafika Lubisi, appreciated the support shown by parents to the school.
“I would like to thank the tremendous support from parents and the community to maintain and keep the school responsible for our children’s education,” said Lubisi.
He said their role was to ensure every expenditure was in line with the school budget.
Lubisi also pleaded with parents to give full support to their children by ensuring they did their homework.
However, this journalist observed that most windows, floors and ceilings at the school were broken. During his address the principal of the school, Mr Sipho Chibi, stated that at a recent matric camp some of the schoolchildren misbehaved and were disrespectful. They also broke windows and ceilings in some classes. At the time of going to print the Department of Education had not responded to inquires made by Corridor Gazette regarding the state of the school.
