Accident claims the lives of two

With the recent development, it may change to a culpable-homicide docket

TONGA – Two people have reportedly died since Sunday morning’s accident on the N4, which left over 14 hospitalised.

According to reports cutters had to be used to free most occupants who were in the taxi that had collided with a Buscor bus at around 01:00. Spokesman for the Malalane SAPS, Sgt Bheki Nkosi, said they opened a reckless and negligent driving docket, however, that might change.

“With the recent development, it may change to a culpable-homicide docket,” explained Nkosi.

Corridor Gazette learnt from a reliable source that at the time the accident happened, the bus was making a right turn into Malalane, coming from the direction of TSB.

The taxi was travelling to Komatipoort. According to Nkosi it has not yet been established who was responsible for the accident, however, investigations are already under way.

He said, “It is now a question of what was the traffic-sign indication at that time. And for that we will have to wait for the conclusion of the investigation.”

Meanwhile another life was also lost on the N4 last Thursday when a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at Kaapmuiden.
