Waterval Boven – The atmosphere in town is tense today with protesters out in full force after police allegedly opened fire on protesters using live ammunition yesterday.

According to an eye witness who spoke to a Lowvelder journalist on the scene, police opened fire, killing one pupil and injuring a second.

Protesters have set municipal buildings alight but no members of the fire brigade or police are on the scene.
