Water restrictions explained again
Penalties will be imposed on consumers with higher consumption of water than the free basic water.

After concerned resident, Irene Huygen, sent in photos to Barberton Times taken by Christell Geldenhuys of a petrol attendant cleaning the forecourt at a filling station, the paper decided to once more publish the water restrictions of Umjindi Municipality.
It asks that the community familiarises itself with the following:
• Washing vehicles with garden hosepipes is prohibited
• Consumers may not use irrigation systems or sprinklers to wet their gardens
• Those customers who receive free basic services and are on the indigent register of the municipality will still receive these services
• Penalties will, however, be imposed on these consumers with higher consumption of water than the free basic water.
Water-saving tips:
• Use bath water to fill your cistern and water your plants
• Water your gardens and plants in the early evenings and not during day time
• Wash vehicles with buckets of water and not your hosepipe.
As far as filling-station attendants cleaning the forecourts are concerned, this is necessary to eliminate the possibility of fire hazards and in the interests of everyone who make use of their services.
