Three more houses torched at Diphale
It is not for the first time that Diphale and Seuwe residents go on rampage and burn houses. In January the local chief, Masiya Mohlala's double-storey house was burnt along with the ones of Mr Joseph Mokoena, Mr Butana Morema and Mr Jantjie Maneke.
MECKLENBURG – Three families will have a bleak Easter after community members from Diphale and Seuwe allegedly torched their houses and a tavern. The Marobane, Maboa and Kgopane families are now homeless. The arsonists, allegedly youths, attacked theM on March 21 at 20:00.
According to Const Kgalake Mampuru, spokesman for the Mecklenburg SAPS, the suspects also pelted stones and burnt a car belonging to one of the families.
Mampuru said an arson case was opened at the station and they were still busy with investigations.
“The combined value of the torched houses and the car is more than R4 million,” he added.
According to Mampuru, the police are hot on the heels of the suspects. “The victims helped identify some of the suspects, we will soon arrest them.”
The SAPS condemned such incidents and warned people not to take the law into their own hands.
