Social call results in horror as two women raped and robbed at gunpoint
This incident follows three similar ones in Naas, Tonga and Block C three weeks ago, where five women were raped.
TONGA – A cheerful visit with friends ended in tragedy when the women were raped and robbed by a man.
A friend visited a 25-year-old woman and her two children when the four heard a loud bang on the door. A man appeared, threatening them with a firearm.
The suspect demanded cellphones and money and the victims obliged.
The two women were told to go outside and lie down and were raped.
The suspect told them that if they reported the matter to the police he would come back and burn them and the children to ashes.
He fled on foot and the women opened a case of house robbery and rape at the Tonga Police Station. They are currently undergoing counselling and receiving medical treatment.
No arrests have been made and anyone with information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest is urged to come forward. People can contact Capt Constance Shembeni on 079-501-5053.
This incident follows three similar ones in Naas, Tonga and Block C three weeks ago, where five women were raped.
Criminals also targeted pedestrians and robbed and raped them in the Tonga and Naas areas in June. Community members should continually be wary of moving around on their own after dark and to also step up their security measures at home.
