Man convicted for raping minor

BURGERSFORT – The local Magistrate’s Court convicted a Kgautswama resident for raping a 10-year-old girl on Monday.The sentence will be pronounced on September 28. The convicted, Liberty Mathebula, raped the girl on November 1, 2015.According to the prosecutor, the man took the girl to his room and raped her on his bed. The court heard that the victim was a relative to Mathebula.He pleaded not guilty to the charges, stating that he only slapped the girl as she was disturbing him while he was bathing.Doctors from Dilokong examined the minor and testified that she was raped. The judge at the Burgersfort Magistrate’s Court hinted that Mathebula would face a lengthy jail term.
