Protesters threaten to burn down newspaper offices

When the newspaper phoned the number to question why the threat was made, the woman told the journalist to; "F*ck off and go to hell b*tch."

KELLYSVILLE – Some members of the group responsible for the chaos that erupted this morning at Kellysville has threatened to burn down the office of the Steelburger/Lydenburg News.

This follows after the newspaper reported on the burning of tyres, the blocking of the road and shots fired by Public Order Police (POPS) members to disperse the angry crowd.

A previous article stated that a building was also burnt. That information was incorrect and the newspaper has since issued an apology regarding the misinterpretation of events.

Shortly after the article appeared online, the newspaper’s office received no less than four calls from those protesting warning that the offices of the newspaper will be set alight.

When the newspaper phoned the number to question why the threat was made, the woman told the journalist to; “F*ck off and go to hell b*tch.”

The numbers have since been sent to the SAPS.
