Lowvelders’ fuel price also to increase

The fuel will go up by 5 cents per litre at midnight.

MBOMBELA – A five-cent increase in the fuel price means that Lowvelders will now be paying R16,32 for a litre of petrol.

Lowvelder previously found that Lowvelders pay more for fuel due to transport costs.

Kuzi Maya, from Puma, explained that the closer you live to the coast, the cheaper the fuel is because there are fewer transport costs involved.

With the increase at midnight, this means that Lowvelders will be paying 83 cents more for a litre of 95 petrol than coastal dwellers and 24 cents more than the inland price.

Minister of Energy Jeff Radebe has confirmed that his department is stepping in to ease the hikes in petrol prices.
