Lydenburg Primary shone at the district national teaching awards (NTA).
The awards recently took place at the district offices for education in Bushbuckridge.
Lydenburg Primary’s Bafedi Makofane received an award for excellence in grade R teaching. She obtained first position, and will proceed to the provincial eliminations, to be held mid-October.
Principal of the school, Severinah Shabangu, was awarded with the excellence in lifetime achievement. She came third in this category, a real feat in an overall teaching practice. “It is a humbling experience after 40 years of service. I hope this will have a positive impact on aspirant teachers to stay in this profession,” she said.
Deputy principal, Johnny Ramodike, received an award for excellence in primary school leadership. He obtained position three. He told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that it really inspires him to continue to engage in programmes that enhance the quality of their practice.
Lydenburg Primary School’s learners, staff and parents are proud of these achievements. The school believes that this is a measure of confidence in the school’s education quality.
