Dilokong fights obesity

The organisers also took time to educate and enlightening participants about obesity.

BURGERSFORT – The fight against obesity was taken to a higher level this past Wednesday as various organisations and businesses united for an awareness campaign.

The successful event was held at the Dilokong hospital and included a 5 km fun run and fun walk. It was organised by the Limpopo health department, the Dilokong hospital staffers as well as the Joy Riders bike club.

The fun run started as early as 08:00. The runners started at the hospital entrance and turned at the R37.

The winner for the women’s race Katlego Letlapa.

Young and old participated in this worthy cause. After the race, the runners were handed medals and prizes. The organisers also took time to educate and enlightening participants about obesity.

The winner for the men’s race Kamogelo Mnisi.

This was in line with National Obesity Week, which is commemorated to increase awareness about the impact of obesity in the lives of South Africans.

The winner for the men’s race was Kamogelo Mnisi and the women’s race was clinched by Katlego Letlapa.
