TCLM’s offices closed; official tests positive for Covid-19

This is the second building closed on the same block as the offices of the Steelburger/Lydenburg News. 

LYDENBURG – The entire Thaba Chweu Local Municipal building (TCLM) will be closed from today (Wednesday) on account of an official who tested positive for the corona pathogen.

This was confirmed by the municipal spokesperson, Themba Sibiya. He stated that the departmental office in which the official work will be shut down along with all other departments for decontamination and disinfection purposes.

“All employees who were in contact with the official in that department are seen as close contacts and will be tested. Those working in other departments within the building will be screened, tested and monitored for any symptoms associated with the virus,” Sibiya said.

This is the second building closed on the same block as the offices of the Steelburger/Lydenburg News.
Yesterday, Brig. Leonard Hlathi, provincial spokesperson for Mpumalanga SAPS confirmed that this building and its offices have been temporarily closed after a member at the community service centre also tested positive.Both buildings are situated opposite the offices of the newspaper.

Decontamination of the service centre commenced today. The disinfection of the municipal building will commence as soon as possible and normal operations will resume on Monday, July 27. Sibiya said that this allows for a thorough decontamination process to unfold.

In the meantime, residents are advised to go to the Thusong Service Centre in Mashishing for any emergency services. The following employees will also be on call to assist with information or service delivery related queries:
