Health MEC pleased with readiness of clinic

The MEC for health in Mpumalanga, Sasekani Manzini, visited the Greenside Clinic situated in Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality to inspect the readiness of the facility to be utilised as an isolation site for Covid-19 patients.

“I am glad that my visit was fruitful as I have witnessed the readiness of the Greenside Clinic for the use as an isolation site for coronavirus patients. The challenge is now left with you to utilise it in a beneficial way,” Manzini said.

Her visit formed part of the monitoring and collecting of practical data by the Department of Health on how the surrounding communities, healthcare workers and practitioners have been responding to the fight against the pandemic since lockdown was implemented in March.

The locals’ enthusiasm regarding Manzini’s arrival indicated that they were expecting good news as the country has recently moved to lockdown level 2.

“As the government, we are pleased that you have been responding positively to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and the statistics in the province bear testimony to this.”

“This facility belongs to you, the community of Dr JS Moroka, and I urge you to make use of it if we are to bring an end to Covid-19 and return our country to normality,” she said to an applause.

To date, the province has screened 7 026 014 people. A total of 137 415 tests have been completed, with 23 946 positive cases confirmed.

Sadly, 330 deaths have been recorded in Mpumalanga.
