Curro Academy spoils frontline workers

The school identified Rob Ferreira Hospital's Covid isolation unit as its beneficiary.

The school identified Rob Ferreira Hospital’s Covid isolation unit as its beneficiary. It all started with a fundraiser on Valentine’s Day, when they wore civvies and raised funds in order to be able to put together some care packages.

With the help of their teachers, the school’s nursery and foundation phase learners made some posters with personalised messages for the healthcare workers. From handmade posters to home-made cookies, the packages where definitely put together with a lot of love. Taking into consideration the safety of the learners and staff, two representatives from the Covid isolation unit at the hospital were asked to come and collect the packages.

Last week, a handover session with the executive head, Amanda Mashile, was conducted in the boardroom. Betty Fankomo and Sfiso Mkhabela, both registered professional nurses, collected the tokens of appreciation on behalf of the Covid isolation unit and later distributed them to the rest of their colleagues
