Relay for Life hosts fundraiser on ice

CANSA Lowveld hosted a Relay for Life On Ice fundraising event at i’langa Mall on May 6

“The event was directed towards the youth and the theme was superheroes,” Mariolise le Roux, chairperson of Mbombela’s Relay for Life, said.

According to Le Roux, the inspiration of the theme was in support of cancer patients’ battle against cancer.

“It was to show patients that we are fighting with them,” she said.

The event allowed participants the opportunity to ice skate for two hours, dressed in their favourite hero’s attire; in return the small fee paid to do so was donated to Relay for Life.

Prizes were awarded in the category of best dressed, as well as to the winner of a lucky draw.

“It is really fun to ice skate, but to do it for a good cause like this makes it all the more fun,” Antoinette le Roux said.

Mariolise stated that a few fundraisers similar to this one are set to take place in the near future.

“Keep an eye on our social media pages,” she said.
