The Rockets and Amakhosi in 0-0 draw

TS Galaxy got their 2021/22 DStv Premiership campaign off to a good start.

The Rockets opened the season with a goalless draw against Premiership giants, Kaizer Chiefs, on Sunday at Mbombela Stadium.

This draw, which earned coach Owen Da Gama’s boys a point, is a good result considering the fact that this was their first competitive game, unlike Chiefs who had played three games.

“I can only be proud of the tactical team because the boys did well both in the planning and in the application. You know, the first game is always very tricky and you don’t know what to expect.

The players played well despite this being our first competitive game and I think the boys really deserve a pat on the back for the exceptional job well done,” said Galaxy coach, Da Gama.

Njabulo Blom and Wayde Lekay.

This draw saw Galaxy finishing week one of the season in position 11.

They will now turn their attention to the ever stubborn Stellenbosch FC who they face later this afternoon at Danie Craven Stadium.

Da Gama said they will take each game as it comes but believes that his boys will start finding the back of the net in no time once they have picked up pace.

Meanwhile, all the new teams in the elite league have been welcomed with baptism of fire. The Durban-based Royal AM lost 1-0 to Swallows FC while Sekhukhune United registered a 1-0 loss to Chippa United.

Finally, Marumo Gallants also lost their opening encounter 2-0 to Baroka FC who are currently top the table.
