Three armed robbers loot supermarket, die in police shoot-out
A shoot-out between the police and armed robbers in Block A on January 13 resulted in three suspects being killed.
According to the information the police received, a group of suspects had charged into the local supermarket at Kwazibukwane, Block A in Nkomazi and was heavily armed. The robbers looted items such as cigarettes, television sets, airtime and an undisclosed amount of cash. They fled the scene in a white Ford Bantam.

The robbery was reported to the police, which responded swiftly and immediately were on the hunt for the suspects. After carrying out an intense search, the suspects were spotted in the getaway vehicle.

Upon noticing the police, the robbers fired at them and the SAPS retaliated, fatally wounding three of the suspects. One managed to escape. The police are still searching for him.
The provincial police commissioner, Lt Gen Semakaleng Manamela, applauded the police for being dedicated to the cause of fighting crime as well as their acts of bravery.
