Hoërskool Bergvlam, te West Acres, Mbombela, is ‘n multikulturele opvoedkundige inrigting met ‘n eg Suid-Afrikaanse karakter wat Christelike norme en hoë standaarde op alle terreine binne ’n veilige en behoudende omgewing handhaaf.
Our mission is to maximise development of learners in their entirety into responsible individuals according to a specific system of values. • Gr. 8:
“TROTS op ons pad tot hier, in geloof loop ons die toekoms tegemoet.”
As VLAMMIE staan ek TROTS, dankbaar bewus van geleenthede in die verlede en die hede, ywerig verbind tot die uitdagings van môre.
• Gr. 9:
“RESPEK word verdien, vertroue gewen, eerlikheid op prys gestel en met lojaliteit beloon.”
As VLAMMIE is daar geen groter eer my beskore as die RESPEK en vertroue betoon deur ‘n mede-VLAMMIE nie.
• Gr. 10:
“INTEGRITEIT is die wil om die eerbare keuse te maak … en om dit uit te oefen.”
As VLAMMIE streef ek te alle tye daarna om die eerbare te doen, want dit is die regte ding om te doen, selfs in die afwesigheid van ander.
• Gr. 11:
“Uitnemendheid is geoormerk vir dié met VERANTWOORDELIKHEID.”
As VLAMMIE sal ek nie die VERANTWOORDELIKHEID van môre vermy deur dit vandag te ontwyk nie.
• Gr. 12:
“Ek is, want ons is.”
As ‘n ware VLAMMIE besef ek dat my sukses, ons sukses is – geanker in gelyke maatstaf – ‘n direkte gevolg van gedeelde passie, bydrae gelewer en gesamentlike prestasie.
Our colourful value flags stand as symbolic to the individual in complete association and in devoted union with our fellow “Vlammies”. Our values are echoed by and considered part of a philosophy of “… standing tall, standing together, ONE for ALL!” (Vlammie song © 2016, Anton van Zyl – Alumnus).

As Vlammies, we stand with humility in the belief that responsibility, honesty and loyalty are reserved with quiet assertiveness of what is considered just and noble.
• Grade nine: Respect
Supportive yet focused on our fellow being’s needs and hopes as we stand enthusiastically, ready to meet the challenges of the day.
• Grade 10: Integrity
Positive, relevant and motivated, ready to meet the challenges we may face. Always in control of our being and with the will to do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do.
• Grade 11: Responsibility
As partners we display a positive energy characterised by balance and harmony as we are positively focused with a vision for the future. Always seeking to add value and prosperity, we act in the best interest of our fellow beings.
• Grade 12: Ubuntu
Calm, yet fiercely passionate, characterised by a dignified commitment true to a Vlammie who embraces humility and appreciation for each other. We are rooted by equal measure as a direct result of shared passion, input and our mutual achievement. As true “VLAMMIES” we acknowledge “My success is your success”.
