He’s off to Dubai to represent SA
A local Paralympic hero, Collen Mahlalela will be representing South Africa in Dubai.
A local Paralympic hero, Collen Mahlalela, will represent the country, province, and his hometown, Masibekela, in the Nkomazi subregion, during the 2022 Fazza Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai.
This talented star scooped gold in the 100m and 200m long jump during the Paralympic National Championships that were hosted in Windhoek on January 28 and 29.

“This is really a joyful moment for me. Words cannot begin to describe how I feel right now. Coming first and winning gold in the long jump category is quite a feat and I still can’t believe that I brought gold home. This is certainly one of my biggest achievements. This is proof that hard work does pay off after all. All the pain and sweat are just worth it in the end,” said Mahlalela. He will now have the opportunity to showcase his talents on an international stage.

“I have always been dreaming of performing at an international event and I am not going to let this opportunity go to waste. I will do my level best and leave a mark on the international platform,” added Mahlalela.
The Fazza Para Athletics Grand Prix hosted under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is one of Dubai’s biggest sporting events, and is attended by athletes from over 50 countries across the world.

“I would like to thank my family, friends and the entire population of Nkomazi and Mpumalanga for always being supportive and believing in me. I am going to Dubai to represent all of you,” he concluded.
