90-something and still going strong
Rubicon Retirement Village's 90+ club were treated to a celebration last weekend.
Rubicon Retirement Village pulled out all the stops for its 90- years-and-older residents and their families this past weekend.
Two of the most senior members of this elite club are Bettie Fernandes, who will be 96 years old on April 28, and Kate Botha, who turned 95 recently.
The general manager at Rubicon, Driekie Heiberg, said the rest of their 90+ club includes the following residents:
• Ronald Hickey and Hanse van Staden, who will be 95 this year
• Everine van Wyk and Elsebe Botha, who are 94 this year
• Annatjie Muller, who is 93
• Joyce Perry, who is 92
• Barbara Lourens, Nell Gouws, Essa Roodt, Margot Philips, Japie Kritzinger and Isabella Vosloo, who are all 91
• Therese Vorster, Ann Furman and Peggy Hickey, who are the latest members to the club to turn 90 this year.
Fifty guests joined in on the Saturday morning celebrations and got to hear a short little brag piece about each of the 17 special residents.
“After a long Covid-19 isolation, families could end off the lovely morning with a glass of bubbly!” said Heiberg.
