Two workers fall off bakkie near Spitskop, Dullstroom Road, bakkie speeds away

The accident left the workers with serious injuries

Today, on Sunday October 30, an accident occured about 15km from Lydenburg, towards Spitskop, on the Dullstroom road at about 10:56, in which two workers fell off the back of a bakkie.
The area  is close to Coromandel.

Several emergency services as well as Thaba Chweu Emergency Services assisted on the scene..⁰

According to witnesses driving behind the bakkie, the driver allegedly did not even notice that the workers and some equipment, including a gas cylinder, had fallen off as he sped away.
They also alleged that the driver had driven recklessly and swerved accross the road.

One of the workers landed in the veld, a few metres away from where he had fallen off.
He was hit on the head by the gas cylinder.

Other motorists stopped and called emergency services.

The second worker sat injured on the side of the road, waiting for help to arrive.

Both workers were taken to Lydenburg Hospital for treatment.
They will be questioned by the Lydenburg SAPS to gain more information about the driver.

At the time of the incident, no one could identify the make of the bakkie in question.

Lydenburg SAPS requested anyone with more information to call 013 235 2223.
