Drop in Mpumalanga dam levels continues
Average dam, as well as water catchment area levels, have continued to drop since the last report by Mpumalanga's Department of Water and Sanitation.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) called on the public to be conservative in their water use as water levels continue to drop in the listed dams and catchment areas in Mpumalanga.
The latest DWS weekly state of reservoirs report of October 31 shows that the average dam levels in the province dropped from 88.7% to 88.5%.
Water levels in the water management areas (WMA) also continue to drop with the Olifants dropping from 78.4% to 78.1% and the Inkomati-Usuthu dropping from 93.2% to 92.9%.

The Nkangala District fared better than the other two districts with two dams recording some improvements and the other two remaining unchanged. Witbank and Rhenosterkop / Mkhombo dams increased from 96.5% to 97.6% and 47.8% to 48% respectively. Middelburg and Loskop dams remained unchanged at 94% and 95.5% respectively.
In the Ehlanzeni District and Lowveld, only Primkop and Da Gama dams recorded some improvements, increasing from 60.4% to 61.8% and 89.1% to 90.7% respectively.
The rest of the listed dams in the Lowveld recorded declines in water volumes.
Blyderivierpoort dropped from 74.5% to 71.8%, Buffelskloof from 70.6% to 67.7%, Driekoppies from 97.1% to 96.6%, Longmere from 89.5% to 87.2%, Klipkopjes from 88.9% to 88.5%, Witklip from 89.9% to 87.4%, Kwena from 83.2% to 82.5%, Inyaka from 78.8% to 78.4% and Ohrigstad from 25.6% to 23%.

Most of the listed dams in the Gert Sibande District recorded declines in water volumes, with a few remaining unchanged.
Grootdraai Dam dropped from 89.5% to 89.1%, Nooitgedacht dropped from 96.5% to 95.9%, Jericho from 89.8% to 88.6% and Morgenstond dropped from 98.8% to 98.7%.
Vygeboom, Westoe and Heyshope dams remained unchanged at 100.3%, 73.3% and 99.2% respectively.
