Man arrested for allegedly cutting victim’s stomach with knife

The two had an argument when the suspect drew a knife.

A 22-year-old man was arrested for cutting a 21-year-old man on his stomach stomach. The incident reportedly took place on November 10 around 03:00 at Sonpark BP Garage in Mbombela .

A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said it was reported that the two allegedly had an argument then the suspect drew a knife and cut the victim in the stomach. The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated and later discharged.

“Police opened a case of attempted murder and the suspect was arrested on the same day, November 10. He is expected to appear before the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday November 14 facing a charge of attempted murder,” he said.

The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has strongly commended the bizarre incident and urged members of the public to refrain from acts of violence but rather solve matters in a civilised manner
