Locals warned to refrain from carrying large amounts of cash
As the preparations for the festive season celebrations begin in earnest, criminals are also ready to pounce on unsuspecting people and rob them of their hard-earned cash.
The Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has warned community members, especially business owners, stokvels, and social club beneficiaries, are cautioned to desist from withdrawing and sharing large amounts of cash during the festive season.
This caution follows after a 45-year-old victim in Polokwane was allegedly robbed of over R200 000 cash on November 22 that she had carried in a bag.

The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General, has cautioned communities at large to avoid carrying large sums of money with them, as this is often unnecessary.
“I would like to encourage everyone to utilise electronic transactions to avert being victims of these kinds of incidents. Criminals are ready to rob unsuspecting individuals or social groups who do not make use of these safety measures” said Hadebe.
