One dead and six injured in N4 collision near Ngodwana

A crash between a bakkie and car occurred on the N4 just before midday today, December 15.

One person has died and six others were injured when a bakkie and VW Polo collided head-on along the N4 between Airlie and Hemlock today, December 15.

Emer-G-Med’s Martin Jeffrey said a blue bakkie with two occupants and one man on the back was heading towards Mbombela when it allegedly collided with a VW Polo travelling towards Johannesburg.

The passenger on the back of the bakkie was thrown off the vehicle on impact and died almost instantly.

The bakkie’s two occupants sustained moderate injuries, and the four occupants of the Polo had minor injuries.

Jeffrey said that along with Emer-G-Med, ER24 and Carewell Ambulance Services were also on the scene.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation
