Gentlemen, dare to run again at 2024 Hollard Daredevil Run

There will be one run in Mbombela on Friday, November 1.

The time for the annual Hollard Daredevil Run has come once again, and there will be a run in Mbombela for prospective participants to take part in and take a stand against prostate cancer.

The Hollard Daredevil Run is an annual event that started 15 years ago with a few brave men clad in Speedos running through traffic to raise awareness about men’s cancer. Since then it has bloomed and grown from strength to strength into an event that includes thousands of men in purple Speedos running at hundreds of locations around the country.

The funds raised from the Hollard Daredevil Run all go towards supporting both CANSA and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa. In 2023, this run raised no less than R700 000 for these organisations.

This year there will once again be an opportunity for local men to take part in the Hollard Daredevil Run as a run will be held at Mbombela Stadium on Friday, November 1. While the initial idea was to host two separate runs, they’ve been combined into one run that will start at 06:00 (4.5km).

The Hollard Daredevil Run aims to promote early detection of prostate and testicular cancer. The survival rate in men whose prostate cancer is detected early enough is 95%. The five-year survival rate for men who are diagnosed and treated for early-stage testicular cancer is over 98%.
