Limpopo MEC leads Mandela Day event at Mohlaletse Disabled Centre
The MEC for Transport and Community Safety spent Mandela Day giving back through donations and offering messages of support.
Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety Violet Mathye led a 67 Minutes of Service event at Mohlaletse Disabled Centre as part of Mandela Day commemorations on July 17.
The MEC was accompanied by the acting Sekhukhune District Municipality mayor, Cllr Kanana Leokana, and the acting Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality mayor, Cllr Maria Mashego.
Donations included sanitary towels, toiletries, non-perishable food items, old clothes, cleaning materials and a water storage tank. Mathye also donated vegetable seedling trays, including cabbage, spinach and tomatoes, and blankets were handed over directly to each member of the centre.

“We must treat persons with disabilities with dignity, respect and compassion. They are equal members of society who deserve the same love, care, opportunities and respect we all expect. Let us celebrate this day together, and give where we can,” said Mathye.
Mohlaletse Disabled Centre chairperson Albert Morewane expressed gratitude and said Friday’s event went smoothly.
He thanked the department for its support, noting that beyond the contributions, their words of motivation inspired them.
