Break the cycle of stress with the Pause for Peace project

“You move through life with the brilliance of one who is completely at peace with the self.”

If one were to tell you that the above is very much possible, it might be difficult to believe. Peace has become a rare diamond in the unstable world that we are living in! Constant unpleasant change has become the new norm of society. It is getting more and more difficult to remain calm when the news channels and social media is constantly bombarding us with a series of unfavourable, violent and explosive information.

It is indeed very simple to remain calm by taking pauses from our busy life and to experience our original state of being, which is peace. By introducing the technique of Pause for Peace into our daily routine, we can quietly sail through the sea of chaos and mayhem that we are thrown into every now & then.

The Pause for Peace project is an initiative which was conceived in Kenya at a time when the country was going through a period of extreme political crisis. It created an opportunity for people to pause for a moment to connect with their inner self and with the Highest source of Peace.

Stress begins in the mind — so does peace. Our thoughts often dwell in the past or race into the future. We regret, replay, or worry about what’s ahead. But the power to reduce stress lies in being present. This is where practices like mindfulness and meditation play a vital role — helping us stay centered, observant, and grounded in the now. Mindfulness means observing your thoughts, emotions, and environment without judgment. It’s not about stopping thoughts but learning to step back, notice them, and choose.

Pause for Peace is a powerful technique:

Pause: Take a breath. Step back.

Observe: Notice your thoughts, feelings, and reactions.

Re-direct: Gently shift your focus to something positive or constructive.

This simple practice helps shift us out of reactive patterns. As we grow in self-awareness, we reclaim our inner power and begin to respond to life more wisely — with strength, not stress. The aim is to provide a “PAUSE’ in an attempt to reduce stress & anger and create within one’s inner self a very positive and peaceful response. The practice of maintaining peace of mind at regular intervals will help us to steer this boat of life smoothly & calmly through the turbulent waters of uncertainty.

To learn more about ‘Pause for Peace’, join us for an introductory session held by The Brahma Kumaris, where you can practically experience this method by learning how to pause and connect with the true peace within.

It’s time to give yourself and the world the Gift of peace.
