Matric Class of 2025: Your future starts now

Matric learners are gearing up for the final exams after 12 years of dedication.

On October 21, over 800 000 learners across South Africa will sit for the National Senior Certificate exams – a moment shaped by 12 years of dedication.

Mpumalanga’s 2024 pass rate of 84.99% reflects growing momentum, but behind the numbers are stories of resilience, support and determination.

Sappi proudly supports the Class of 2025, especially in our neighbouring communities.

Through Penreach, we’ve helped strengthen early childhood development in Mpumalanga, reaching over 1 500 children across 20 centres. Our support enabled 10 ECD practitioners to complete their NQF Level 4 qualifications in 2024 – building strong foundations for future learning.

In Waterval Boven we partnered with Imemeza Secondary School to support their annual matric camp, donating groceries and Typek paper to help learners focus and prepare.

Principal Charlotte Maunye shared: “We highly appreciate this donation from Sappi. We commit to honouring this gesture by striving for outstanding results.”

Throughout the year, we’ve donated 72 tons of Typek paper, made from renewable sugar-cane waste, to schools near our mills and forestry sites throughout South Africa.

We also celebrated top achievers through our Matric Excellence Campaign, offering bursaries, prizes and digital tools to support their transition to university.

To every learner: we see you, we believe in you, and we’re cheering you on.
