Ripinga promise speedy feedback

HECTORSPRUIT – On Monday evening locals gathered and signed a petition to be handed over to the South African Police Services.

The objective was to have the Hectorspruit Police Station reopened. The petition is available for signature at all retail stores in town.

According to residents, the need for this police station to be operational once again has grown significantly, as the population has increased over the years.

The nearest police station is in Komatipoort.

Community members have also expressed concern about vacant property stands that are not being maintained and thus used by criminals as hideouts. They have called on the Nkomazi Municipality to maintain these stands and bill the owners for its services.

Other pressing matters which residents have brought to the municipality’s attention were electricity shortage and the poor quality of water.

The municipality’s spokesman, Mr Cyril Ripinga, has confirmed reception of the community’s grievances and has promised feedback at the next scheduled meeting on February 3 at the Hectorspriut Community Hall. Ripinga added, “The Nkomazi Municipality promises to investigate and urgently address the quality of water. It intends to provide residents with the best services to its ability. We are also in discussions with Eskom to get them to repair the line which is causing constant power outings,”
