DA poster vandalist could face hefty fine

There is a fine of R20 000 for anyone who defaces a political poster.

A poster for the DA with regard to the elections was defaced for someone else’s agenda. On Monday this came to light when DA ward councillor Ms Felicity Lange noticed that a party poster on the R40 at the traffic lights on the corner of Sonpark and Rob Ferreira Hospital had a strange message glued to it.

The message read, “Bikers have the right to be on the road, so keep your f***ken eyes open.”

DA councillor Mr Steve Schorman stated that there was a fine of R20 000 for anyone who defaced a political poster. “We don’t condone the profanity used and the message should rather read that bikers should obey the rules of the road and not weave in-between traffic at intersections.”

He added that all political posters had to be taken down today so the offending one would also be removed.
