NELSPRUIT – Women like to have fun. And funds. The South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) Nelspruit deliver on both these counts for its members. More than 50 women attended the association’s first meeting for 2014 held at the Pinnacle on February 5.

The fun was provided by guest speaker Ms Lynette Beer of Seeds of Inspiration who was thoroughly entertaining in her lively description of the four main personality types one encounters. Her message was clear- if you understand the people you work or do business with, you will be more successful. Beer jokingly added that learning what motivated and drove her employees, colleagues or clients helped her to move away from the idea that, “people are idiots”.

The SACBW offers membership to corporate women, professional women and entrepreneurs. Through networking events and guest speakers, members get support from fellow women in business in order to grow professionally. One such successful, professional local businesswoman, Ms Michelle Hugo will lead the organisation this year. She takes over the role of chairman from Ms Carmolieta Vermeulen.

A calendar with this year’s events was made available at the meeting and a report back on the successes of 2013 was given. As a previous winner in the professional category of the national Businesswoman of the Year competition, Hugo encouraged other members to enter this year, saying it was a positive reinforcement to receive this kind of accolade from one’s peers.
