MBOMBELA – Warm, dry and windy conditions are causing firefighters to work tirelessly in an attempt to put out two fires in the Sudwala and Renosterhoek areas.
According to Mr André Scheepers, manager of the Lowveld and Escarpment Fire Protection Association, there will be a high risk of fires breaking out throughout the whole week.
Four AT-802 bomber aircraft, two choppers and ground teams are
currently on the scenes. At the moment both fires are under control
but should these conditions persist, the situation could get much worse.
“We need to take take extra precaution during these conditions,” says Scheepers.
