KANYAMAZANE – The protest action which began in the early hours of this morning has been called off.

This is after community members met with the MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Mr Vusi Shongwe and the executive mayor of Mbombela Local Municipality, Cllr Sibusiso Mathonsi.

Shongwe and Mathonsi told the KaNyamazane Community Forum executive members that the tender, which caused this mayhem, would be halted until a consensus had been met. The two parties will meet in two weeks’ time.

KANYAMAZANE – The biggest part of the township came to a standstill this morning when hundreds of community members barricaded all entrance and exit points to surrounding areas like Pienaar and Entokozweni.

According to the latest reports two trucks have been hi-jacked on the N4 highway and are being used to block traffic. There is currently no traffic flow on the N4 near KaNyamazane, between Mbombela and Malalane.

Motorists are urged to avoid these areas and travel with caution. Updates will be shared on this post as new information become available.
