Corruption against tourists has been dealt a swift blow since 11 traffic officers were recently arrested.
The Hazyview Chamber of Business and Tourism (HCBT) and the Kruger Lowveld Tourism showed their appreciation for the senior SAPS officer who made the arrests.
The officer, who has chosen to stay anonymous, has shown huge determination to bring this scourge to an end. He brought the Hawks in and caught both perpetrators and ringleaders.
Mr Chris Harvie from HCBT said the Bushbuckridge lieutenant has strongly been dealing with the corruption. Harvie has recently been a victim of such crime. He was pulled over between Hoedspruit and Tzaneen, where the traffic officer proudly told him that he had just pulled over Mr Zwelenzima Vavi, speeding at 220 kilometres per hour in a 60 kilometres per hour zone.
The officer then tried to bribe Harvie, but did not succeed. A roadside anti-corruption card has been issued to travellers and Hazyview residents which they present to traffic officers when they are fined.
