The cause of the accident is not yet known. However, it was clear from what was visible on the scene yesterday morning that the impact must have been massive, with several pieces of debris and a windscreen scattered across the stretch of road.

According to a media statement by Netcare 911, its paramedics worked alongside other services on the scene to stabilise injured occupants. Three people were declared dead on the scene. One person was found to be in a critical condition while another sustained minor injuries. They were transported by ambulance to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.
