MBOMBELA – A 21-year-old man is in a critical condition after he was seriously injured in an accident on Tuesday.
Mr Steven Henry Gobey is reportedly in Rob Ferreira Hospital’s ICU after the Audi he had been driving left the road and rolled several metres down an embankment.
A photo of Gobey was placed on Nelspruit Concerned Citizens’ Facebook page on Tuesday, stating that he “could be missing”. The post stated that he was last seen that afternoon just after 15:00.

According to residents of the Uitkyk area, a resident heard a loud bang on Tuesday night at about 21:00. He didn’t think much of it, assuming it was his dogs causing a racket in animal cages outside. On Wednesday morning just before 08:00, one of his employees alerted him to a vehicle behind one of his pigsties. It had clearly been in an accident. A man was found about 20 metres from the wreckage, visibly and seriously injured.
The resident called Bossies Community Justice to the scene. ER24 also responded. The injured man was identified as Gobey. According to Mr Pieter Rossouw of ER24, he sustained severe head injuries, as well as injuries to his chest and a fracture.
Mr Dumisani Malamule, spokesman for the provincial Department of Health, didn’t respond to enquiries concerning Gobey’s condition at the time of going to print.
A source who was at the scene said it was clear that the vehicle had left the road “at an incredible speed”. “It seems as if the vehicle ramped for about 30 metres, before hitting a tree at the bottom.”

Gobey posted the following on his Facebook profile on Tuesday afternoon: “I’m sorry for this ma… I love you so much and you deserve so much better obviously with all the people that have unintentionally exited my life it took a toll.
“Dad first then ouma then granny and then my closest grandpa!!!* you were all I could hold onto. And with you deciding to exit it I realised that I am not meant to be here and bring so much pain with my lies and manipulation…
“Senna you are so close and you saved me several times! I cannot even begin to thank you for that. Georgie thank you for your support and holding me together!!!
