Roadblock near Malalane results in 19 arrests

As part of her campaign to fight crime through operations and increased police visibility, Tonga cluster commander Maj Gen Dorah Xaba, led a roadblock operation near Malalane last Wednesday.

MALALANE –  Members of the Tonga SAPS cluster and Nkomazi traffic police, handed out thirteen traffic fines, arrested 18 illegal immigrants and one person in possession of illicit goods during their search of 75 vehicles and 143 persons during a road block last Wednesday.

Three suspects were arrested after they were found in possession of dagga worth a street value of R60 000 in three separate cases. Dagga was also found abandoned at the Malelane Taxi Rank.

Xaba was happy with the success of the operation and hoped that station commanders would follow her lead by working on the front lines instead of sitting in their offices.
