ANC says chief whip’s utterances were unfortunate

The ANC said they don't know who Mthembu was speaking on behalf of.

MBOMBELA – The ANC said it was grieving from what was uttered by the party’s chief whip in parliament during the weekend.

Mr Jackson Mthembu, who is also a branch member of the provincial ANC, said members of the national executive committee, including the president, Mr Jacob Zuma, and his deputy, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, should all step down from the party’s decision-making body.

The ANC held a short media briefing on Monday to weigh the views on Mthembu’s statement.

Spokesman, Mr Thulare Madibeng, said the party’s processes should be followed when it comes to resolving internal meetings.
On Tuesday the Ancyl will also convene during a media briefing to discuss the matter.
