Two men believed to have been responsible for various cases of ATM fraud in White River, have been remanded into custody.
Morgan Elmon Hemmingway Damain (40) and Mtshali Adorelight Nkosana Paule (36) appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court on May 22, after which the case was postponed to Friday.
The suspects reappeared for a formal bail application. They were denied bail and remained in custody for further investigation. On May 18, on the same day White River Post and the SAPS warned locals of the increasing amount of ATM fraud, the suspects jammed an ATM and swapped the complainant`s bank card.
They allegedly gave her a different card and withdrew R1 400 in Mbombela. Members of the Hawks Commercial Crime Investigation followed the lead which led them to the arrest of the suspects who were found in possession of complainant`s bank card and jamming device.
