BODY DISCOVERED

The partially burned body of Muhammed Navid was discovered on Wednesday last week at Flaaiban near Boshoek Farm.

LYDENBURG – Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of a 38-year-old man originally from Bangladesh.

The partially burned body of Muhammed Navid was discovered on Wednesday last week at Flaaiban near Boshoek Farm.

According to acting SAPS spokesman, Sgt Elizabeth Magoa, a cattle herder in the district stumbled upon the body in the early hours of the morning.

“The man saw the cattle gathering around a spot in the field. Upon closer inspection, he came across the gruesome find. The body had a stab wound to the head and was still bleeding.”

Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Black/blue sneakers covered with blood were discovered about two kilometres from the scene.

“The victim was certified dead and taken to Lydenburg mortuary.”

On Friday police made a breakthrough and arrested two suspects in connection with Navid’s murder. A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman were apprehended and appeared in Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday. They will remain in custody until their next appearance on June 19. According to Magoa, the underaged female will be taken to Hendrina’s Juvenile Court for her next appearance.

“We suspect that the murder is on account of a love triangle,” said Magoa.
