Pedestrians killed in Mgobodzi identified
The family wants the person who killed their loved ones to face justice.

A grandmother and her two grandchildren were killed and two other pedestrians were seriously injured when they were hit by a vehicle on the D2945 between Magudu and Mgobodzi on January 12.
The deceased have been identified as Grace (54), Alwande (4) and Fortune Nkosi (10).
They were all on their way to church when a Toyota sedan crashed into them as they were walking on the side of the road at about 11:30.
The Nkosis were declared dead at the scene of the accident. The two injured victims are still fighting for their lives in hospital.
A family member, Khanya Nkosi, told Lowvelder the family wants justice because the way in which their loved ones had died was shocking.

When we arrived on the scene, the driver was drunk and even eyewitnesses confirmed that he had been speeding on a residential area road.
There were also empty bottles of alcohol in his car. The fact that he was not arrested on the spot does not sit well with us. If he can go free for this, other people will do the same as they know nothing will happen to them,” he said.
Nkosi said the impact was so severe that some family members had to pick up strewn pieces of the children’s flesh at the scene.
Grace’s hands, legs and skull were broken.
“The pain we are going through cannot be measured, because we had to pick up their flesh off the ground. This could have been avoided if the driver had not been drunk and had adhered to the rules of the road. Now we have lost three members of the family at once,” Khanya said.
He described Grace as the pillar of the family as she was the only surviving grandparent and had looked after the grandchildren. “We had high hopes for the children as both had a bright future ahead of them,” he lamented.
“We miss them already, because they were part of the family. Their mother is not coping, because losing her two kids at once is more than trauma. We are going to miss their presence, smiles and voices, because they always filled the house with laughter. As for our mother – her love, advice and calm spirit will be missed. Things will never be the same again.”
The three will be buried at Mgobodzi Cemetery on Thursday January 16.
